Not a fan of the layers

Yesterday I swallowed my pride, and for the first time since moving to Louisiana I decided to get my hair done out here. It's always risky for a girl to try a new stylist and this time was no exception. I made my appointment and when I arrived, the first sign of danger was that girl doing my hair had to take 5 for a smoke...ewww!! Anyway, I told her that I'd like a dark chocolate brown color for the, and that I wanted to keep the length and add a few bangs...pretty simple right? Well the color turned out really cute, but somewhere along the line the stylist suggested adding a few long layers to my cut. It sounded harmless so I agreed, but those long layers turned out to be code for really short mullet-like accents around the face. I tried to hold back the tears in the salon but they just came out flowing. When she asked me if I was ok I told her "oh yes, I'm just crying because I haven't seen anyone work the scissors like that in a long time...impressive". Alright, to be honest I didn't really cry, but that's only because I didn't get to make a good enough assessment of the cut until I got home. On a positive note, I suppose my new look is better then the mop I was sporting before. I doubt even a rabid squirrel on the loose up there could have made it look worse then it was. I sure hope these layers grow out fast because I'm not sure how long I can handle this business up front, party in the back look. Yikes!! I'll post pictures soon so you can all laugh at me.

Snow on the Bayou!!!

If you thought the world was rocked during the anthrax scare in 2001 check this out....I wake up this morning and it's SNOWING outside...WTH!! This just doesn't happen in Louisiana. The funniest part about it is that several of the local schools are closed today due to the weather. I think these cats need to come to Utah if they think this is bad. I must say though that this is a bit of a Christmas miracle for me, because I've been wishing and hoping for snow, the only thing is I was wishing and hoping for it when we got to Utah. In my wildest dreams I never imagined it would happen here. Poor Jer bear has to work in this nonsense, and it's his birthday too...sorry sugar! Next time I'll be careful what I wish for.

The Fun Continues

Today we made our way to New Orleans to show Corey a rip-roaring time. Our day was filled with lots of tasty food, views of the mighty Mississippi, strolls through the French Quarter in search of Brad and Angie's multi-million dollar homestead, and plenty of tempting bargains at the French Market.

My Thoughts on Twilight

Like so many others, Corey and I headed for the big screen on Friday to check out the new Twilight movie. Fortunately, the craze for vampires isn't as big out here so we didn't have to battle any crowds at the theater. My feelings for this flick were somewhat mixed and if you care to embark then please read on.

-I knew going into this movie that the actress who plays Bella isn't very well known, but, until I saw her being interviewed on E-News I had no idea that she was the one who played the little boy in the movie Panic Room. If you ever had the displeasure of seeing this movie then you know what I am talking about. Surely though I was not the only one confused about her gender in that movie??? I guess her name was Sarah...but still!!

-Not to be super negative, but all of the buzz from the "Team Jacob" fans got me to thinking that he was a super studly Native American....all I have to say about that is NOT! I felt strongly that he needed a man-makeover STAT! I guess that opinion is arguable by other fans who may have thought he was a cutie.


It's like an over greased widows peak meets Danny Zuko and the T-Birds.

-On a higher note, I loved the scene where the Cullen's play a friendly game of baseball (as vampires sometimes do). Anyway, Loved it!!


Batter Up!!

-As you may have guessed from my earlier dis on Jacob I am definitely "Team Edward". Although cheezy at times, I thought that he did a good job of seducing his female audience. I was so proud of Edward for finding the will within to stop his blood sucking attack on Bella, even though she was quite tasty. True, she probably needed a 2-3 pint transfusion afterwards, but the important thing is he fought through the urge to suck her dry.

All-in-all I thought this was an entertaining movie, and I can honestly say that I am more motivated then ever to read another chapter or two from Twilight before the year is up. Nothing like going out with a bang!

Corey Comes to the Bayou

Last Wednesday my sister Corey made her way to the bayou for a visit. Corey coming to visit equals loads of girl talk, Felicity senior year, touring the Cajun country, and basically just living, laughing and loving life to the fullest. It has been exceptionally great having her here, and I must say we are really living it up, as sisters sometimes do. Here are a few pictures from our week so far. We still have mounds of fun and photo opportunities to come, so stay tuned for more of the best week ever 2008!!

A lot to swallow...

Well, although this should not come as a surprise to ANYONE, I have to admit that I was a little shocked when I heard the news. Dee Dee and the Shredder have called it quits!! Apparently Dee loves Jesse but she's not in love with him....well what was all that song and dance at the finale then???? This chick needs to check herself...talk about a whacko! First rejecting Jason and now this. Boy, she really played me for a fool, I mean I actually thought she was in love with this snowboarder dude. Click here for more on this love story gone bad.

Happy Halloween!!

Halloween is finally here and let me just say that Homer is so excited to show off his costume. As some of you might remember I ran a poll so our readers could vote for Homie's costume, and the majority of you voted for pimp gangster. Homer was PUMPED when he saw the results! He couldn't wait!! But, as sometimes happens with youngins, at the last minute he decided to change his mind on what he wanted to be (you know how turtles are). I think he must be in his superhero phase because he wanted so badly to be a spider-turtle. Well,when I saw those big beady eyes looking up at me with all that love my heart melted and I just couldn't say no! I hope our readers aren't too disappointed that our little Homie decided against being a pimp gangster. I guess it's just as well though, I mean how do you explain a pimp gangster costume to the bishop at the ward Halloween party?? Anyway, I just thought I'd better explain the changes so as not to confuse our readers. Hope you all enjoy Homer's costume! I may be a little bias but he's definitely the cutest and sweetest little spider-turtle I've ever seen! Happy Halloween everyone!!!
