Birthday Weekend

My wonderful husband took me to Baton Rouge for the weekend to celebrate my birthday. Even though it's only one and a half hours away it was great just to be somewhere different. We had a great time, and here are a few reasons why...

Chinese food

Whole foods

Dessert food

What can I say, Roundy's love food!!

PeeWee, on the other hand, was less than thrilled about having to stay home.

Our New Place!

Here are a few outside pictures of our new place. I will post some of the inside soon.

A view of the outside

This is a satsuma tree. They taste and look a lot like tangerines. Our landlord said the fruit should start growing this summer...can't wait!!

This is a picture of the awesome screened in porch. The screen goes all the way around so we don't have to worry about all the mosquito's coming in, and it has ceiling fans...double bonus!

Another view of the outside

The backyard and shed

Our own private lane...LOVE it!!

We are so happy to have found this place and we are absolutely loving it! Pee Wee loves running around in the yard and barking at the cows next door...what a nut! All-in-all it has been a great transition.

Christmas 2009

Just wanted to share a few pictures from our visit to Utah over Christmas. Some of the highlights included, Christmas Eve, mounds of delicious food, a pair of very tight PJ's (Fischer), Pee Wee getting acquainted with the snow, and Liv's baptism.

All-in-all it was a great visit filled with many memories. The only downer was the absence of the Payne family. I guess you can't have everything though.

Happy Fall!

I've realized lately that I have seriously neglected my blog. Let's face it, it's pretty much dead. But, I want to try to slowly bring it back to life...thus, the purpose of this post. It's hard for me to believe that it is already fall, but I really love this time of year and here is why:

1) I love the fact that I know it is going to start cooling down here soon...nothing like Utah cool, but no more butt sweats at least!
2) Also, I love all of smells that remind me of fall. My favorite right now is our mulled cider candle.
3) This is the time of year that I really start wanting to get crafty. Martha is always a big help in that department.
4) Baking baking baking! I don't necessarily want to eat everything I bake, but I love all of the smells and it's just fun to do!!
5) Thinking up fun traditions for our little family is another great thing about fall. Any suggestions?? In the next week or so we are going to do some pumpkin carving and maybe I will make homemade soup if the weather is not too hot.

Me doing some holiday baking a while back.

Fall also marks the anniversary of when Jeremy and I moved to Louisiana. This week we will have been here for two years now...WTH!! Honestly, I didn't think I would ever survive the bayou this long, but it looks as though I have. When we first moved to Louisiana I was afraid of everything about this place. Now however, I'm realizing that I'm a lot more street smart then I thought...you have to be to make it in our neighborhood. So I guess you could say that I'm slowly starting to figure this place out.

In other news, our little Pee Wee is almost 8 months old! He is such a joy and has really brought a lot of smiles and laughter into our home. I think it must be true what they say about how a puppy prepares you for mother/fatherhood because Pee is consistently getting into shenanigans. I think it's safe to say that we have to put him in time out at least 3 times a day. But, you know it's all worth it when the night rolls around, Pee gets sleepy, and finally drifts off in your lap with all fours in the air (see pictures below).

And, with Halloween just around the corner I have ordered this little guys costume and it should be here shortly. I really don't know who is more excited for Halloween, him or me (tee hee). I can't tell you what he is going to be, so you will just have to wait until October 31st to find out. Just a little teaser though, the phrase "super cute" comes to mind every time I think about it. The only bummer thing though is that I wish chocolate wasn't a toxic substance to dogs, otherwise we would for surely be trick-or-treating!! Also, I still haven't figured out Homer's costume yet, so if you have any ideas I may or may not consider them.

Happy fall everyone!!
