Memorial Day

This year for Memorial Day I was in Utah visiting my family. We had originally planned to ride the new Frontrunner train into Salt Lake in the morning, but because it was a holiday the the railway was not operating. At this point we really had to rack our brains for ideas since the weather outside was rainy and cold. We decided that we would head over to my brother's house for a jam session. What better way to kick off Memorial Day then busting out a little rock band.





Every year we go to the Kaysville cemetery to visit my grandma and grandpa Roundy's grave. This year grandpa Mike decided to give the kids some money to buy a soda out of the vending machine. Let's just say that 6 grandkids and one bottle of Mountain Dew don't really mix. It was a shark fest, and I'm pretty positive that if Fischer could walk he would have pummeled the other 5 kids and ran with the dew. Until then I guess he will just have to settle for grandma Maddie letting him chug half the bottle while Allie and Neil have their heads turned the other way. Gotta love it!




Luckily the weather cleared up and we were able to end the day off right with a family get together and a BBQ.

My Trip to Utah

I had the opportunity to go to Utah on May 19th for 10 days thanks to my parents who hooked me up with sky miles. I was so glad that my dad was able to swing me a direct flight on Skywest airlines. If it weren't for Skywest I would have been traveling all day instead of a short and sweet 3 hours and 15 minutes.I'd be happy to fly that friendly airline any day! So back to my vacation..it was awesome! I can't even tell you how nice it was to go back to Utah for a few days. It was so fun to see my parents beautifully remodeled home and to spend so much time with my family. I only wish that Jeremy could have been there with me, but unfortunately he had to work. Welcome to adult responsibilities I guess. Other then that, it was a perfect trip filled with the four F's...fun, family, friends, and food. Here are a few highlights.

Cookie Bake Off
One of my favorite nights during my visit to Utah was "cookie bake off" night. We divided into teams and we all made a different batch of cookies. Me and my dad were on a team, Mom and Beckett were on a team and Allie and Neil were on a team.

Me and dad made oatmeal chocolate chip cookies with pecans.

Mom and Beckett made peanut butter blossoms.

Allie and Neil made chocolate waffle cookies.

Beckett was a natural in the kitchen, and he hardly licked his fingers at all.

As you can see, the oven wasn't the only thing that heated up.

A Trip To The Cheesecake Factory

We ate dinner one night at the Cheesecake Factory and these little diddy's topped it all off. The one on the left is Brownie Sundae Cheesecake (Brownie, Cheesecake, White Chocolate Mousse and Chocolate, Covered with Hot Fudge and Almonds), and the one on the right is Adam's Peanut Butter Cup Fudge Ripple (Creamy Cheesecake Swirled with Caramel, Peanut Butter, Butterfingers and Reeses Peanut Butter Cups). So Good!

Thanks again mom, dad, and family for making my trip to Utah so great. It was so fun to see you all and I can't wait to come again. Until then, it's back to life on the Bayou.

Disney World

Being the spontaneous couple that we are, Jeremy and I woke up last Sunday morning and decided that since we both had the next four days off of work, that we would go on a little road trip to the sunshine state. We have been talking about taking a vacation for quite a while but our schedules just never seemed to coordinate. Although it was a last minute thing, it was a perfect time for Jeremy and I to get away and take a vacation. So, we quickly made hotel reservations, packed up our things and hit the road. I have to say that it was very nice to be able to leave Louisiana for a few days. The feeling in the air was definitely different with each state we crossed, other then Mississippi. Needless to say it was hard to come back.




Here we are like two kids on Christmas morning as we head out on our adventure to Disney World.




Here are a couple of pictures of the resort where we stayed. Isn't it magical! Just Kidding! We didn't really stay here, we stayed at the holiday inn, but we did have a pretty sweet pool and hot tub at our hotel.

Our first day we decided that we would relive our childhood and go to Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. It definitely brought back memories to go on all of the different rides that we did when we were kids. The best part about it was that we barely even had to wait in any lines. They had the fast pass option for several of our favorite rides, but the regular lines were so short that we didn't even bother fast passing. With school still in session and pretty decent weather, (not to hot or humid) we definitely picked a perfect time to head to the happiest place on earth.

They had a place where girls could go to get transformed into a princess...dress, makeup, hair and all! Unfortunately their was an age limit, so my princess transformation was limited to only this crown. Oh well, works for me!

Just a random photo of us to end our day at Magic Kingdom. We decided that the highlight of our day was Space Mountain. This ride is even more rockin than we remembered. Jeremy was even lucky enough to score the front row seat! Even though I loved it as a kid, the only ride we could have done without was It's a Small World. That song just kept playing over and over and over...it was brutal! Other then that we had a great time!

Gator Land

Our original plan when we set out for Florida was to go to all of the different Disney World theme parks, (Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios etc.) but since we don't have kids yet, we decided that we would skip the other theme parks and see what else Orlando had to offer. After doing some research online we found a place that had pretty high ratings called Gator World. It was similar to a zoo, but obviously the main attraction was alligators. The coolest part about this place was not only could you get extremely close to the fully grown alligators, but you could also feed them, and hold the baby alligators. It was kind of like going on a swamp tour without the boat. All-in-all we had a really fun time here. Coming soon to this blog...live footage of the alligators.

Yes, that is a real live baby alligator, and a real snake wrapped around Jeremy's neck...yikes!




For lunch we (more like me I guess) decided that we would go to Planet Hollywood. The food wasn't anything to brag about, but I thought that the atmosphere was fun and entertaining. I had to have a souvenir from P.H. so I chose this hat. Jeremy made fun of me saying that I looked like a train conductor...all I have to say about that is "All aboard."

We saw this helicopter and I just thought it would be fun to get a picture of Jeremy standing next to it...I was right, it was pretty fun. To end our day, we walked around to a bunch of different shops and looked at all of the souvenirs. My favorite shop was the Candy Cauldron. Do I really need to explain why??? The smell alone was like a little piece of heaven. Jeremy got some fudge and I got an amazing chocolate chunk cookie...Yummy!

Jeremy was in desperate need of some new clothes and shoes, so our final day in Florida was spent shopping. We had a great time going to several different outlet stores around Orlando. We even made a trip to the Mall at Millenia, but the shopping there was a bit out of our price range...Tiffany's, Chanel, Bloomingdale's, Dior, Juicy Couture etc. It was still fun to look around though. The outcome of our shopping trip was very successful, and Jer found a lot of the things he needed. I of course found a few things for myself as well. So our spontaneous trip was a big success, and we highly recommend Orlando to anyone in need of a fun vacation.
